When to Order Your Wedding Invitations: A Guide
Wondering when to send your wedding invitations? The timeline can vary, but generally, giving yourself a solid 8 weeks before your RSVP deadline is a safe bet. For guests traveling internationally, it’s thoughtful to send them earlier to allow for planning. I like to work backwards… so bear with me as we do some wedding maths!
PLAN YOUR TIMINGS
Start with the date your venue needs final numbers in.
Set your RSVP date 2 weeks before this date - ther’ss always stragglers so give yourself some time to follow up with them.
Work backwards from your RSVP date 8 weeks - this is the latest you should send your invitations
Plan up to 10 days for Print and delivery, let’s make it 2 weeks for ease. Some designs will take less time, but anything with special finishes such as foiling can take longer.
Speak to your stationer, how long do they need to design your invitations?
In terms of design, timing depends on your stationer’s availability, especially during peak wedding season. If you’re interested in a bespoke design, I’ll work with you to understand your vision, create drafts, and fine-tune details - this can take a few weeks, and during the busy wedding season I can need 6-8 weeks notice. Custom invites take extra time but make a beautiful first impression on your guests and set the tone for your day!
