Who are the First Floor Collective?
The First Floor Collective is a vibrant community of creatives, makers, and small businesses based on the first floor of Rogart Street Campus, and in surrounding buildings. Our members span a wide range of disciplines—including printmaking, illustration, painting, bookbinding, calligraphy, design, and fine art—as well as printing studios, upholsterers, jewellery designers, independent designers, clothing, photographers, skincare, and other many other enterprises.
Being part of Glasgow Doors Open Festival is a wonderful opportunity for us to share our businesses, studios, and creative practices with the wider community. For many, it will be a rare chance to step behind our studio doors and see the processes, projects, and collaborations that usually happen out of sight.
While you explore the building, you can also enjoy a bite to eat or a cup of tea at Garlic & Thyme, the on-site restaurant at Rogart Street Campus—the perfect spot to relax, recharge, and soak in the creative atmosphere.
We can’t wait to welcome you into our world and share what makes the First Floor Collective such a unique and inspiring place to create, make, and grow.

Karen Hannigan
I am a narrative silversmith and jewellery artist.
My work explores the emotional dynamics of family and identity, often drawing on personal experiences to create pieces that resonate with a sense of memory, belonging and connection. Each piece I create is both wearable and meaningful — a small sculpture with a story to tell.
Lindsay Mahood Jewellery
I’m a silversmith and jeweller creating contemporary pieces with stories at their heart, wearable, meaningful, and timeless.

Passion Made Glass
The glass mesmerised me, with its beauty and fragility, and I discovered this as a perfect medium to express myself. I am fascinated with new techniques and investigating the broad possibilities of glass. I am delighted with the way light stimulates glass to life.
The magnificence of nature and the elusiveness of the moment are the sources of my inspiration. To articulate my vision of the world, I’m using stained glass and fused glass techniques often mixed to combine tradition with modernity.
