Engraving for Vivienne Westwood

A Dream Collaboration

Some opportunities feel special. Others feel like full circle moments. This was definitely the latter.

Working with Vivienne Westwood has always been on my list. Back in art school, I spent a lot of time studying her work, completely drawn in by everything she stood for. It wasn’t just the fashion, it was the ethos behind it. Rebellion, activism, craftsmanship, and using creativity as a platform for change. It felt bold, unapologetic, and purposeful.

I remember being fascinated by the way she worked with form. The tucks, the folds, the structure of each piece, how fabric could be manipulated to enhance and reshape the body. It was expressive and intelligent all at once. Honestly, bliss to study.

So to find myself years later, spending two days in store engraving Boudoir perfume bottles, felt surreal. Being surrounded by the collection, seeing the pieces up close, and being part of that environment, even in a small way, was such a privilege. Moments like that really make you stop and take it all in.

A few years ago, I took a sculpture workshop with Wilfrid Wood, where we were asked to choose an icon to recreate in plasticine. Without hesitation, I chose Vivienne. It felt fitting then, and it feels even more meaningful now. I’ve included a picture of my representation of Vivienne, hopefully I captured her spirit!

I’m so grateful to @themoderncalligraphyco for connecting me with this opportunity. It’s collaborations like these that remind me why I love what I do. The mix of creativity, craftsmanship, and the chance to work with brands and stories that genuinely inspire me.

A true icon, and a moment I won’t forget anytime soon.
